São João Porto and Bob Sinclair

Bob Sinclair. A famous french Dj in the center of Porto, during one of the major , if not the major party of the year (that occurs around 23 June in this city, in the north of Portugal).

What is fun about this festivity is how crazy it can be to an outsider. I myself, was born with this party, so I do not find awkward to randomly hammer strangers' heads all night with a plastic...hammer. To a tourist, well that can be really weird.

Now picture thousands of people, going up and down the streets, with thousands of multicolored hammers and weird plants called alhos-porros (sorry, do not know what it is in english, I barely know where that plant grows, I just know it stinks, a lot). Amazing show really.

And the food, oh the food. You will get fat in one night. Churros everywhere. Pregos no prato. Minis. You name it. Street food is the way to go, after of course, the typical sardines and caldo verde dinner, at the local restaurants.

Happiness is the spirit. Then at midnight, near ribeira, fireworks light the city and the bridge, with thousands ( with a record of 1.2 million people) of people watching from both sides of the river.

In the end, there is no end. You go to aliados, to watch great shows like the one above,or to the beach in matosinhos, to watch more concerts, relax in the beach and watch the sun rise.

The best of all this is that you are also in Porto. Stay for the weekend, live S.João, and get to know this amazing city. You will be leaving with a smile.
